About me

   g
I study affective neuroscience using computational frameworks and naturalistic paradigms. My research aims to elucidate how brain-body interactions construct complex affective experiences (e.g., ambivalent feelings, affect dynamics). I also try to extend neurobiological findings of human affect into relevant fields such as mental health, aesthetics, and AI. Ultimately, I am eager to overcome implicit conventions in affective science - static and dichotomic approaches to human emotion and establish a more nuanced framework to describe our daily affective experiences. To this end, I use naturalistic neuroimaging, machine learning, and system dynamics.

Research interest

      - ambivalent affect: e.g., “How does the brain integrate conflicting valence signals to shape mixed feelings?
      - affect dynamics: e.g., “Does certain affective state work as an ‘attractor’  in one’s emotional experiences?
      - mental health: e.g., “How does one’s mental health interact with temporal dynamics of affective states?
      - empirical aesthetics: e.g., “How can people get preference for displeasing and challenging artworks?

... and I'm also open to collaborations on other related topics!
